ALL-NATURAL DIY FACE SCRUBS
Making your own face treatments is fun, easy and nourishing. I like experimenting with simple ingredients at home, and they’re as effective as any regular market product.
However, you need to be aware of the dos and don’ts as sometimes even natural food products can cause reactions. I won’t recommend any of these treatments for those with acne or an acne-prone skin. Besides, some people are allergic to honey. I suggest you do a patch test of the blends to see if they suit you. Remember to rinse your face with tap water at normal temperature (avoid warm water). If you are on a skincare regime prescribed by your dermatologist, then do take advice from him/her.
Here’s a list of natural face scrubs that won’t hurt your skin, pocket and routine. Note that they are not to be used everyday. Applying once or twice a week is just fine.
EXFOLIATING SCRUB
This is really nice and gentle. It is suitable for dry to a combination skin type.
1-tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoons sugar (I prefer crushed sugar over granules as they’re too rough)
5-6 sprays of rose water
Add these ingredients in a small bowl and give it a stir. Gently apply on your face and neck in a circular motion. Do it for 50 to 60 seconds and then rinse with cold water.
WALNUT HONEY SCRUB
This is good for oily skin. Full of natural Vitamin E, it works well for dry skin as well. The natural oil in walnut softens the skin.
2 tablespoons of grinned walnut.
1/2 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
4-5 sprays of rosewater
Mix all the ingredients and apply in circular motion for 1 minute, then wash.
RICE SCRUB
This one’s a must try! It’s gentle and nourishing, and suitable for all skin types.
1 tablespoon grounded rice
A pinch of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon honey
Few sprays of rosewater
Mix well, then gently apply in circular motion for a minute and rinse.
If you want glowing skin without investing in cosmetics, get hold of all these ingredients at home and work your magic with them!
