Tips and Tricks for Eye Area Care

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. While that might be true, the eyes are also one of the most vulnerable areas of the body. Not only are they sensitive and likely to be prone to allergies and infections, this area is also the first to show signs of ageing. This is why, the eye area needs special care. This is a long post, but necessary I think, because there is so much to eye care.

Environmental pollution, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, not drinking enough water, sleep problems can really mess up the sensitive skin around your eye area. It is best to start a special eye care regimen from a young age in order to address the problems before they become major challenges. A well formulated hydrating eye cream, started early, should take care of most problems before they emerge. However, do keep in mind that if your eye area is affected by some underlying health condition like anaemia, kidney problems, thyroid, or fat deposits under eye area (need to be surgically removed), then there is not much an eye cream can do.

There are some simple but very effective home remedies to fix minor problems:

For puffy eyes-Soak some green tea bags in refrigerated water and apply on the eyes for 10 minutes. It is wonderfully soothing and refreshing.

Dark circles – soak some cotton pads in refrigerated raw potato juice and apply for 10-15 minutes.

Hydration and rejuvenation – soak cotton pads in chilled rose water and add 5 drops of organic coconut oil. First dab it around the eye area for the oil to get absorbed by the skin and then cover the eyes with the pads for 10 mins.

After using your home remedies, you will also need a good eye cream to seal in the moisture, and to protect the delicate skin. Remember you only need a tiny amount of eye cream because if you overdo it, your skin won’t be able to breathe. Take a tiny dab of your cream and pat it around your under-eye area. Never rub it in, because that will stretch the delicate skin and cause more damage and lines. Wait for a minute to let your skin absorb it all in and then apply your sunblock and then your concealer and make up. Remember the no rubbing rule extends to any product you use around your eyes, so dab them in gently. A good eye cream can make your skin firmer, denser and even increase elasticity. Here are some eye creams that I have tried and loved and therefore recommend:

ALGENIST -ELEVATE FIRMING AND LIFTING CONTOURING EYE CREAM

Gold and micro algae along with other powerful and potent peptides and proteins form the key ingredients of this cream. I just started using this 3 weeks ago, and I already love the way my skin looks and feels. It is definitely brighter, smoother and more hydrated. It works well for dark circles and puffiness. It is free from parabens and sulphates and suitable for all skin type.

This is a very well loved product. It is wonderfully effective for dark circles and puffiness. Please remember gel based eye creams work best for puffy eyes. Since the molecules are very fine they get easily absorbed by the fragile skin, showing quick results. Caffeine is one of the key ingredient of this product. It stimulates lymphatic drainage and flushes out toxins from beneath the skin. Other key ingredients like Vitamin C, phloretin and ferulic acid prevent signs of aging.

These ingredients also help to firm and tone the sensitive skin around the eyes. This product can be used in the morning as well as at night.

This brand has been in the market for a long time and is very popular amongst the masses so I decided to try it out just to make sure it doesn’t cause any allergic reactions or watery eyes. (A lot of eye creams can cause watery eyes even though they are high end branded ones). It has a light weight formula which contains natural ingredients like hydrolysed wheat protein and soy bio peptides. It is great for all everyone over 21 years of age. It reduces pigmentation, puffy eyes, dark circles, fine lines and can be applied both at night and during the day.
