BB Cream: The Wonder Product

BB creams are everywhere. Almost every cosmetic brand advertises a BB cream, and a large number of women swear by its effectiveness. BB stands for ‘blemish balm’, ‘beauty balm’ or ‘blemish base’. Essentially, BB creams are all-in-one beauty products that can be used instead of serums, moisturisers, primers, foundations, and sun blocks. They are not just beauty products; they also have anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties while offering mineral-based coverage. These soothing and hydrating creams also offer UV protection. Some brands even treat acne and pigmentation, and most of the Korean brands have skin-whitening properties.

I would not want to replace my serum, primer or foundation with a BB cream for daily use, but I’m always willing to try out a good brand. Carrying this one product while travelling on short trips works well for me. This is an excellent emergency product that can be used every day by women who are in a rush and don’t have time to apply 4 different products.

ERBORIAN BB CREME AU GINSENG

This product is suitable for lighter skin tones and matched mine perfectly. The main ingredients include ginseng, liquorice, ginger, and titanium oxide, which provide protection from the sun. Besides having anti-inflammatory, toning, detoxifying and age-defying properties, it can also white-out imperfections. I apply a tiny bit after cleaning my face and applying my customary rosewater. MAC PREP+PRIME BB

This has a very light texture and its colour pigments are not too strong, giving your skin that dewy effect. It keeps the skin moist for hours without making it oily and also guarantees good sun protection. Actually, this makes for an awesome makeup base as well. Please choose the cream according to your skin type. This will hide light spots on your face, but for darker pigmentation, you will still need to use a light concealer, which you can apply on the spot. Buy it here.

THE BODY SHOP ALL IN ONE BB CREAM

I’m a big fan of all Body Shop products because they are absolutely clean and chemical free. This one is wonderfully hydrating and offers very light coverage that is good for mild pigmentation. If you have flawless skin, this is for you. Keep in mind that you have to blend it really well so that the skin absorbs it properly, otherwise it leaves a little colour. Buy it here.

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK CLEAR GLOW BRIGHT BENEFIT CREAM

I’ve heard so much about this one from my nieces that I had to try it out. I love the fact that my girls are into good skincare & beauty products. I was pleasantly surprised with this BB cream; it blends nicely and offers great coverage. It is also quite hydrating and does not make my skin oily.
