5 best hair treatments

Just like our skin needs serums for some extra nourishment, our scalp needs tonics. In India, use of oil treatments is very popular, but not many women know about tonics. These are mostly botanical based products and are excellent for scalp problems like dandruff, dry scalp, oily scalp, weak roots, and even thinning hair caused by hormonal imbalance and lifestyle. These tonics are essentially home treatments that are easy to use, non-greasy, and water-based.  You should apply on the scalp after you wash, condition and towel dry hair. You can use your regular shampoo and conditioner.  I do change my hair care products every few months. Here are some of my favourites:

Trying this one for the first time. I don’t have severe hair loss problem, but my hair is fine textured, and even slight fluctuation in hormones can sometimes trigger mild hair fall.  I absolutely love this one because it is 99% botanical, with botanical stem cells and natural ingredients. You only need 3 applications per week.  The pack contains 12 vials and I have already used 8 vials. You will definitely notice your hair thicken as the antioxidants in this tonic strengthen roots and combat hair loss.

Another botanical concentrated scalp serum. It is perfect for thinning hair triggered by stress, wrong diet, pregnancy, and illnesses. I have been using this on and off for years, especially in the monsoon season. It provides great nourishment to the hair roots. Contains biotin, Brazilian ginseng, Vitamin B5 and essential oils sage and lemon. To be applied on the scalp once a week for 12 weeks. You will notice stronger, healthier hair in no time.

This was my first ever scalp treatment. I had terrible hair fall issues a few years ago. It was definitely PCOS related because at that point, I was not starving myself and was taking my multi-vitamins regularly. To be applied 3 times a week on a clean scalp, and it works wonders. It is good for thinning and falling hair. This treatment is not all botanical but very effective. Hair feels stronger and fuller after you finish with the first box. Do use it for at least 3 months for best results.

I’ve used Nioxin No3 kit before. The kit contains shampoo, conditioner and a scalp tonic. I quite liked the results. I was introduced to this product by my hair stylist in London and luckily the products are available in India. This intensive treatment when applied to areas of concern, that is, patches where you see a lot of thinning can promote hair growth. Key ingredients include CoZyme -10, a vitamin complex. To be applied morning and evening.

Forest Essentials Hair Vitalizer Bhringraj is a non-greasy product that stimulates hair growth and restores the vitality of the hair. This multi-functional hair vitalizer is enriched with Ayurvedic herbal extracts which deliver optimal anti-breakage benefits and strengthens hair follicles. Again to be applied after washing on a clean scalp. The fragrance of the product is of herbs and not floral and tends to fades after some time.
