Wellness Trends I Love!
Hi all! I don’t tend to make New Year’s resolutions but for me 2018 is all about wellness. Our health is the most important thing which one should preserve, and it should be at the top of our priority list to keep on track with. I’m not just talking physical health but emotional, mental and spiritual health too. We all need to keep a close eye on our wellness and consistently detox our mind, body and soul for a healthier, happier life. We only feel unhappy or discontent when we are not balanced or if our wellness is not properly nurtured.
EXERCISE
I can’t begin to emphasize this one enough. Forget wellness trends, exercise should be a forever-habit! I do go through phases of loving some ways of keeping fit more than others, everything from walking to swimming, boxing, yoga, weight training, running, TRX to Zumba!! Do whatever you truly enjoy the most and whatever suits your body type best, this is the only way that you will keep consistent with it, if it inspires you. Ideally 4-5 times a week! Take up one or 2 activities so you don’t get bored. Trust me, this is wellness gold dust.
MEDITATION AND DEEP BREATHING
I am a strong believer in both meditation and also deep breathing to keep your wellness tip top. To start with, concentrate on your breathing twice a day (morning and evening) and try meditating for 10 to 15 minutes. I like to sit in a quiet place, away from any loud noises or distractions and simply lie or sit down. Begin with loosening your body, and relaxing every muscle, really focus on striving for a peaceful state. Shut your mind to stray or negative thoughts and just concentrate on your breath. Breathe deep, breathe slowly. This is so simple and so relaxing.
GET RID OF PLASTIC BOTTLES AND FOOD CONTAINERS
This doesn’t seem like an obvious one but it’s another life cleanse which I would recommend. Gradually start doing this at home, start with water bottles first as plastic bottles are not good for our hormones due to the harmful toxins they release. It might not affect your health now but overtime it will. Switch to glass bottles, glass jars and containers. It’s also much, much better for the environment.
MAKE NUTRITION YOUR TOP PRIORITY
This is so important for our entire family and I would advise that you start slowly but progressively making it a priority for your family too. What we feed ourselves and feed our children really matters and cultivating good eating habits starts at home. Go easy on unhealthy snacks, experiment with clean recipes, cook with the right oils, and reduce your sugar and salt intake. Choose foods that reduce inflammation in the body and more importantly – strengthen and boost immunity. Physical wellness will benefit you on so many levels.
SUPPLEMENTS
I absolutely love natural, holistic, chemical free supplements. They work! Make sure to check the ingredients at the back, just in case you are allergic to anything. Go for anything organic as much as possible and preservative-free. No need to overdo it, just take a few for 3-6 months take a break of one month and then pick another supplement you feel like trying.
GO ORGANIC
This is super important but don’t stress yourself over this one too much as in India there is not much range of organic stuff. I too struggle with it whenever I’m home and keep searching for organic stores! Wherever you can go organic, do it! Remember to pick your groceries from a good reliable vendor.
RELAX
Take a short break whenever you can…and just chill! It just lifts you up and keeps your wellness levels high. Try a new scene, a new environment or even just chill at home…Which I absolutely love doing! Reading a good book, spending time with your family and loved ones is the best. I like to also restrict my time on social media, and watch a fun movie instead, it’s just so relaxing and therapeutic!
