SUPPLEMENTS TO MAKE TRAVEL COMFORTABLE
Travel is not really about leaving our homes but leaving our habits.
Travel has it its own downside which makes it less fun than what it is supposed to be.
I travel a lot, and sometimes it becomes hectic for my body. Long distance travel usually disrupts our immune system, digestion and body rhythm. So, it is always good to plan for your body in advance to avoid feeling miserable.
I keep rotating my travel supplements depending on the length of the stay. Also, I pack light, and so, I don’t like carrying too many of these. Here are some of my favorites. They’re all easily available online.
Organic Burst Wheatgrass Powder –
I have spoken about this earlier – and I can’t emphasize more – on how good it is. Full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it is excellent for the energy boost and keeps my system alkaline. I take one teaspoon in half a glass of water; 20-30 minutes before breakfast. Slit open four capsules, and drain the powder in a glass of water. Have it after lunch.
Optibac Probiotic and Organic India Triphala Powder
It helps with overall digestive health. I take Optibac Probiotic tablet after lunch, and 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder in warm water before bedtime.
Altrient Vitamin C
It boosts collagen production and overall immunity. It can also help overcome tiredness and fatigue. Take it on empty stomach; 15-20 minutes before breakfast.
Manuka Honey
It is not only my travel essential, but this is one honey variant that I take regularly even at home. This is not your regular honey. It has potent medicinal properties. I have one teaspoon in evening or mid-afternoon; straight up or mix it in warm infusions (herbal teas). Do not mix it in very hot infusions. The benefits include anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and is good for digestion. It is an all-rounder – in one jar. Make sure you go for one which is certified.
ORS Hydration Tablets
This one’s pleasant in taste, low in calories, and super effective in hydration as they are high in electrolytes. It is formulated as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) oral rehydration salt standards. I take one effervescent tablet in a glass of water after spending time at the beach or pool. I usually carry them when traveling to warmer places.
Rescue Night by Bach Flower Remedies
These are non-habit forming, alcohol-free wonder drops to calm a restless mind, and help you sleep better. I take these drops before going to bed, on long night flights – and wake up feeling fresh.
Do let me know how you feel after taking any of these.
